I usually just ask the company what they made to replace it. If that doesn’t work, find another solution. Looking at it, I get that it’s a quadrature encoder, but what measurement is it encoding?

E4P miniature reflective encoder

Ebay. That’s where I get all of my OEM Skyline parts.
Of course you ability to find parts are based on what car but it’s worth a try.

It isn’t a car part.. I found one but it’s $350.00, I was hoping I could get one for less

Ebay. We own a couple of old envelope converters which were made in the ‘30s by companies that don’t exist anymore. When I need a part I check ebay before heading to a machine shop.

Right, if you get a better answer let me know, but I think EssExTee summed it up.

I checked Ebay and Craigslist but I only need one and I found 25 of them , which I do not need or want.

And what is wrong with the replacement they cite in the link?

I just need it to be compatible with the rest of the system, but I think I should just go and order it

According to this site the E4T is a drop-in replacement.

Yeah, that happens. I needed a $50 score die holder once and all I could find was a crate of parts for $5k.

Digikey or mouser don’t have it?

Contact the seller and offer $50 for one or $100 for two. That’s more than double the asking price on a per-unit basis.
